I enjoyed reading some of your recent articles, so I am sad to say that I disagree with many of the things in this article.
Re your second sentence, “For millennia, Hinduism had never expanded beyond India’s borders”, are you writing off the history of Hinduism in South East Asia, Afghanistan, and so on, or what?
Also, a recommendation for critical self-assessment might discuss a bit more from the millenia-long tradition of internal self-critical inquiry within Hinduism than just a reference to the rather recent Ram Mohan Roy.
Speaking of criticism, I am most of all struck by the contrast between this rather scathing article and the reverential tone of your earlier article where you interview Lord Richard Chartres (“it was very kind of the Bishop to give me the benefit of his time and wisdom” etc.). Did you find nothing to similarly criticize within the hierarchy of the Church? Or is any useful purpose really served by being so one-sided?
But, in the end, you never actually clarify whether the organization you are talking about is in fact a Hindu organization or not.
Anyway, you gave me ideas for a couple of articles to maybe write on two of the above points, so thanks.
